Look, I've never grown broad beans before! How was I to know they are mostly just fluff inside?
I've just realised that this picture will make the braod beans look bigger than they were because the picture is blown up and I do have VERY small hands.
They were damned tasty though. That little lot made 4 teaspoons worth of pure loveliness. mmmmmmmm.

Well done, Frankie and Bonzo! By coincidence I had my first broad beans out the pods last night too! I've cheated though and had some of the small pods whole - yum yum!
Looks like you're working hard - can we see some more pics?
Thanks Hazel! I was tempted to try the pods whole. Did you boil or steam them first? If so then for how long?
As for the pics, I just keep forgetting to take the bloody camera down. Next Time...
Hi Frankie,I'm still waiting for anything, potatoes just starting to flower, i think that means that they are not far off.
Cheers Mark
My aunt used to eat the first baby broad beans in the pods, steamed. I'm not sure what happens to the furry insides. The thought of them is slightly off putting...
Oh, they look good -- even if only 4 teaspoons worth! The first year I grew peas, I only got a few but they tasted magnificent. Each year I get a little better at this gardening thing and grow a few more.
Enjoy!
Thanks Christa
Oh they were very tasty! I was thinking with all the trouble I'd had with them this year with the black fly, ants and chocolate spot I wouldn't bother again. But I seem to be getting a fair crop and they taste so good!
